Who we are

OLFIQ is a human scent intelligence platform operated by Wachiraya Meevasana. We help people find fragrances that work with their skin, biology, and life — not against it.

What we collect and why

We collect the following information when you complete your Scent DNA profile. Every field has a direct purpose — we do not collect anything we do not need.

• Fragrance relationship and current wardrobe — to understand your baseline scent history and starting point
• Skin type — skin chemistry directly affects how fragrance performs and how long it lasts
• Age range and life stage — life context shapes scent preference in documented ways
• Lifestyle anchors — daily habits affect body chemistry and fragrance interaction
• Biological sex — testosterone and estrogen affect skin pH, which changes how scent opens and evolves
• Skin tone — Fitzpatrick scale, used for melanin-related fragrance absorption research only
• Cultural and ethnic background — voluntary, used to contextualise scent memory and preference patterns
• Hormonal context — the single most important variable in personalised fragrance recommendation
• Email address — optional, used only to deliver your Scent DNA profile personally

We also collect the date and time of submission and a submission token for record-keeping purposes.

Special category data

Some fields we collect are classified as special category data under data protection law — specifically hormonal context, biological sex, skin tone, and ethnic background. These fields carry independent consent records in our system and can be deleted independently of the rest of your profile.

We collect these fields because they are the variables that make personalised scent recommendations genuinely accurate rather than generic. Without them, OLFIQ would be another quiz. With them, it knows something about you that no fragrance brand has ever known.

How we use your data

Your individual profile is used for one purpose: to generate your personal Scent DNA recommendations.

In aggregate and anonymised form — meaning no individual can ever be identified — patterns across profiles help us improve recommendations for everyone. This is the intelligence layer that makes OLFIQ smarter over time.

We never use your individual data for advertising. We never sell your personal data to third parties. Ever.

Where your data lives

Your profile is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase in the United States (us-east-1). All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Access is controlled by row-level security — no query can access your data without your explicit consent record being present in our system.

Your rights

You have the following rights over your data at all times:

1. Right to access — you can request a full export of everything OLFIQ holds about you
2. Right to deletion — you can delete any individual field or your entire profile, instantly. No waiting period, no support ticket required
3. Right to correction — you can update any field in your profile at any time
4. Right to withdraw consent — withdrawing consent for any special category field removes it from your profile immediately and removes it from all secured views in our system
5. Right to portability — you can request your data in a portable format at any time
6. Right to object — you can object to any processing of your data at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@olfiq.io with the subject line "Data Request". We will respond within 72 hours.

Passive data collection

OLFIQ has the technical capability to detect passive signals — such as check-in patterns and seasonal shifts — to improve recommendations over time. This feature is disabled by default and requires your explicit opt-in consent before it activates. You can disable it at any time.

Data retention

We retain your profile for as long as you use OLFIQ or until you request deletion. If your account is inactive for 24 months, we will contact you before taking any action on your data.

Cookies and tracking

This landing page does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. We do not run ads. We do not have advertisers. The only analytics we use are for understanding how people use the page so we can improve it — and that data is never sold or shared.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we will notify you by email before the changes take effect. The date at the top of this page always reflects when it was last updated.
